Tech-Driven Stress Pod At Retirement Home Helps Patients, Staff Get Calm And Then Carry On

LA-based Red Dot Digital Media, Wallboard, and the playout hardware companies Bluefin and BrightSign have teamed up on what seems like a very unique one-to-one screen application intended to reduce stress levels.

The Soul Happy Mind Pod is an innovative therapeutic enclosure designed to help the staff and residents of a Florida retirement community manage stress and anxiety. The concept behind the Mind Pod is simple but effective: individuals enter the pod, close the door, and use an interactive screen to guide them through a series of calming exercises.

Upon entering, users are asked to rate their current stress level, followed by a selection of videos designed to reduce anxiety, boost focus, and improve their overall attitude. The videos include calming techniques such as deep breathing exercises, introspection practices, faith-based content, and other methods that help center individuals and bring a sense of tranquility. After completing the experience, users rate their stress levels again to measure the effectiveness of the session. The entire experience lasts about five minutes, offering a quick yet impactful way to reduce stress and improve well-being.

Red Dot was brought in to work with the retirement community's IT team to customize the Mind Pod’s interactive experience, ensuring it was user-friendly and tailored to their specific needs. One of the key changes made by Red Dot was the integration of a 32-inch Bluefin touch-interactive display with BrightSign Built-In, which streamlined the hardware setup and enhanced the system’s performance. The BrightSign media player capabilities built into the display allowed for seamless operation, eliminating the need for additional external devices and simplifying the overall layout. This integration also ensured the hardware was fully interoperable, making it easier to maintain and operate.
